Welcome to the Frequently Asked Questions page. These are three of the most common questions we receive over the years.
Are these classes held in a classroom?
Nope. There’s no classroom other than the great outdoors. No power point presentations here (there isn’t even any power). Students are outside, in the woods, on private property - all day, rain or shine, cold or hot. Dress accordingly. You’re at survival school.
Do I have to provide my own gear?
That depends on the class. There are many different classes. Blacksmith students will naturally need different clothing than people on a plant walk. People staying overnight will need personal camping gear. If you visit the Course Descriptions page and read the information provided, you’ll see what is needed. For most classes, we provide a lot of the class supplies for the subject matter (for example, the metal for a blacksmithing class). You’ll need to bring lunch and drinks for yourself, and personal camping gear for multi-day classes.
Are these classes just for adults or can kids attend classes?
All of the classes on this website have been developed for adult students. We do allow teens in all classes, but they must be accompanied by an adult family member who is also a paying student. This can make a very memorable (and of course educational) experience for the family. In the past, we have offered many private programs for homeschool groups and other youth groups. There may be a few opportunities in 2026 to book something like this. Please email us to discuss the possibilities.
In short, please read the website thoroughly and if you have any questions that aren’t addressed, reach out to the email listed below.
